Ciro Immobile is changing his mind and, after welcoming the Saudi courtship in previous months, he’d like to stay put at Lazio to redeem himself after a poor season. On the other hand, the team might have different ideas to get younger and reduce the payroll, Corriere dello Sport relayed.

The Biancocelesti are contemplating trying to orchestrate a trade with Napoli. Igor Tudor coached Giovanni Simeone in the past, and El Cholito had his most prolific season with him at Verona. Instead, the veteran striker was born in nearby Torre Annunziata. The Partenopei might add multiple strikers once Victor Osimhen leaves.

Immobile has a large salary and is under contract with Lazio until 2026. He believes he’ll be able to bounce back with the new coach if he stays healthy.

His agent Alessandro Moggi weighed in to Sportmediaset (via 90min)

“Immobile represents the history of Lazio. He’s fine in Rome, but it’s clear that there could be many twists and turns during the course and at the end of a season. He wishes to continue with this jersey. Then, the transfer market can always create different situations.”

Our Take on Immobile, Lazio, and Napoli

The Biancocelesti are in a tricky spot as pushing out a legend wouldn’t be a great look, but it would make sense financially and performance-wise. They’d need something of this ilk to offload him, but the Partenopei very rarely sign veterans, even more so if they have rich wages.
