Liverpool U18 playmaker Mateusz Musialowski will have big expectations ahead of his second season at Merseyside.

After scoring 133 goals in 88 appearances for Polish side SMS Lodz, the 17-year-old was snapped up by The Reds last year.

Musialowski scored 12 goals, including a special solo goal against Newcastle United to earn him the U18 Goal of the Season award. He also became the first to win the club's own Goal of the Month trophy, outside the first team since 2013.

After an impressive debut campaign with Marc Bridge-Wilkinson's U18 side, the teenager signed his first professional contract with Liverpool that'll last til 2024.

Furthermore, it's believed that he'll make the jump next season to the U23's and follow under the tutelage of Barry Lewtas.

The Polish midfielder has clearly impressed Jurgen Klopp as he is currently with the first team in Austria for their pre season.

Alongside Musialowski, other top talents such as Conor Bradley, Kaide Gordon and Harvey Elliot have also travelled to Central Europe-expect to hear more from these youngsters in the upcoming season.

Przemek Soczynski, a UK based scout for the Polish FA told The Athletic: "We don't have many players like him who are fearless on the pitch and can dribble past two or three players.

"He's not a Polish player people are used to. He's got the wow factor. A lot of people do call him the Polish Messi."

Liverpool have already prepared Musialowski for the heavy media duties a Premier League player must endure. The club invited student journalists to quiz the teenager in mock press conferences last season.
