Lazio star Luis Alberto did not participate in a training session on Saturday and was left out of the Bianconcelesti squad for disciplinary reasons ahead of Sunday’s game with Empoli.

New trouble for Lazio and Luis Alberto as the Spanish midfielder did not show up to Formello this morning, prompting coach Igor Tuor to leave him out of his squad list for disciplinary reasons.

Several sources in Italy, including Calciomercato.com, claim Luis Alberto was not injured but deliberately decided not to join his teammates for a training session on the eve of a key Serie A match against Empoli.

For this reason, he was omitted from the Lazio squad.

The Spanish midfielder extended his contract with Lazio this past October after months of intense negotiations but exactly a month ago, he said after a Serie A match against Salernitana that he wanted to terminate the agreement with the club at the end of the season.

Luis Alberto’s compatriot Mario Gila wasn’t called up either, but the 23-year-old is recovering from an injury.
