Lucas Beraldo is in his first few weeks with Paris Saint-Germain after joining the Ligue 1 side. The Brazilian center-back joined the capital club this winter transfer window from São Paulo.

Beraldo has already played his first minutes with the capital club as he attempts to adapt himself to European football. Before the contest against RC Lens, manager Luis Enrique spoke about the 20-year-old’s transition from Brazil to the French capital.

“He’s only been with us for barely two weeks, so it’s a question of adaptation again,” Enrique said (h/t Culture PSG). “It’s obvious that there is a period where we can be impacted with all these changes: the country, the language, the transoceanic journey, the transition from summer (in Brazil) to winter here. Everything differs completely from one player to another.

“As for Berardo, I see him very well. He adapts to what we ask of him and to the differences that exist in Brazilian football. I see him very well, very mature for his age. Within the club, we are a family. The team is like a family, in which we try to welcome new players as best as possible so that they integrate as quickly as possible and can help the team. [Beraldo] already helps the team in training thanks to his level. He is a player who is a little different in terms of characteristics and qualities and corresponds somewhat to those we have already seen and known about him. He is a player who has a big future.”

After the injury to Milan Skriniar, PSG will count on Beraldo more than they might have thought. The Parisians, currently in three competitions, must rotate their backline to ensure they can lift the trio of trophies.

If the center-back adapts quickly, Beraldo can play a significant role in the second half of PSG’s 2023-24 season. However, the Ligue 1 side aims to strengthen the backline by adding another central defender in the January window. If they can’t, Beraldo will take on more responsibility.
