Manchester City are reportedly not likely to pursue a transfer deal for Spurs star Harry Kane again.

According to Eurosport, the Premier League champions are no longer looking like making Kane a priority, and will now switch their focus to bringing in someone like Real Sociedad attacking midfielder Mikel Oyarzabal instead, as they need him as a replacement for the unsettled Bernardo Silva.

This could be huge news for Tottenham, with Kane also mentioned in the piece as being open to signing a new contract with the club, provided that it contains a release clause.

Daniel Levy is not known for buy-out clauses as a policy, however, so this puts Kane in an interesting situation ahead of upcoming transfer windows.

It’s understandable that the England international considered his future this summer after failing to win any silverware in his entire career, but one imagines he’ll be shorter of options now that City are out of the running.

On the other hand, let’s see what these rumours look like in a few months’ time as City may decide they need a replacement for Sergio Aguero after all, even if they’re not suffering just yet.
