Manchester United are eyeing up a summer move for OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram.

According to ESPN via Fichajes, the Red Devils have taken notice of the 22-year-old midfielder who has established himself as a vital member of the French team due to his impressive performances in Ligue 1.

With Casemiro’s future uncertain at Old Trafford, United are looking to sign a defensive midfielder who can provide cover to the defense and add steel to the midfield. Since joining on loan from Fiorentina, Sofyan Amrabat has been a letdown and it seems doubtful that he will stay at the club beyond the summer.

Thuram has shown he has the physical and technical qualities required to be successful in the Premier League and he may be a reliable long-term addition.

His versatility makes him a useful option for United as the French star can operate as a defensive midfielder as well as a central midfielder.

The midfielder was heavily linked with a move to United’s rivals Liverpool last summer, when Jurgen Klopp was planning to shake up his midfield.

Thuram has not yet agreed to an extension and his deal with Nice expires in 2025. The Frenchman could be a great addition to Erik ten Hag’s team after showing promise thus far for the Ligue 1 team.

He will probably be available on a cut-price deal which will assist United in meeting FFP requirements. It is also anticipated that the sale would proceed without hiccups now that INEOS is in control of both teams.
