Manchester City defender Eric Garcia released from hospital after scary injury

Manchester City have confirmed defender Eric Garcia has been discharged from the hospital following a scary collision with his goalkeeper during Wednesday's match versus Arsenal.

In the 80th minute of City's first game since the coronavirus pandemic halted the campaign in March, the 19-year-old tracked back to cover an over-the-top ball as goalkeeper Ederson raced off his line.

Ederson cleared the ball but also forcefully collided into Garcia, who appeared knocked out after he crashed to the pitch:

Medical personnel attended to Garcia for nearly 10 minutes as worried teammates and opponents looked on. He was carried into the tunnel and taken to a medical facility but was quickly released.

As noted by Riley Morgan of Yahoo Sport Australia, Ederson apologized to Garcia via his Instagram story.

"Gargia, after a big scare, I hope to see you tomorrow to apologise," Ederson wrote. "Stay well in safety."

City cruised by the Gunners with a 3-0 win.
