Manchester United have confirmed that first-team coach Eric Ramsay is departing the club.

Ramsay, who remains in his role at United until after the Manchester derby on Sunday, has been at the club since 2021 – when he joined from Chelsea.

In a statement released by the club, United confirmed that Ramsay’s responsibilities will be shared across the rest of the coaching team for the remainder of the season.

United said: “His [Ramsay] responsibilities will be shared across the rest of the coaching team for the remainder of the season.”

It remains to be seen if United will hire anyone in the summer to replace him, although I would think that is likely to depend on whether Erik ten Hag remains as manager. Any chance to the managerial team would usually see a number fresh faces within the staff.

At just 32, Ramsay will be the youngest ever head coach in the MLS and he will help increase the number of British head coaches in MLS to six. Other British coaches include Gary Smith, John Herdman and Phil Neville.

Dean Smith recently joined Charlotte FC and Nick Cushing is in change New York City FC.
