Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been dealt a blow in his preparations for the new season after learning that Alex Telles is likely to miss the start of the season.

The former Porto captain joined the club last year but has been used sporadically, mostly owing to Luke Shaw’s sparkling form for club and country since Telles’ arrival nearly 12 months ago.

Telles was left out of the team to face Queens Park Rangers last week and it was later confirmed by the manager that he had suffered an injury in training.

According to The Telegraph, the 28-year-old is now expected to miss the start of the season due to the injury, ruling him out for ‘a few weeks’.

Manchester United kick off their campaign on August 14 when Leeds make the trip to Old Trafford and have already been warned that Luke Shaw is facing an anxious wait. The 26-year-old reportedly played the latter stages of Euro 2020 with broken ribs.
