Jose Mourinho’s appearance on Jon Obi Mikel’s podcast was a very positive one, full of fun stories about the good times.

We’re not surprised – they’re both looking back on the best moments of their career. Plus Jose has really mellowed with age. He shared some great stories about the big beasts of the dressing room at Stamford Bridge back in the day, including one about an argument with Frank Lampard.

Given their immaculate records of being top competitors, the one thing that they did disagree over won’t surprise you a bit:

“Frank [Lampard] was the perfect professional. I had one fight with Frank – he wanted to keep beating his records of consecutive matches. We went to Man City, he had a 40 degree fever and he still wanted to play to keep that record,” Mourinho explained.

That fits perfectly with what we imagine was going on. Frank doing everything to play every week and break every record, and Mourinho doing everything to keep the wins coming, with no room for individual glory or sentiment.

No wonder they made such a great pair for us, and no wonder nobody has really been able to match the ruthlessness and the dedication since then.
