Failing to secure a spot in a European competition could spell disaster for Napoli as top clubs circle for their stars.

The Partenopei are now under the control of their third head coach of the season, relying on Francesco Calzona until the end of the season following the sackings of Rudi Garcia and Walter Mazzarri. The only consistency this season has been the team’s poor results and low confidence.

Napoli now find themselves ninth in the Serie A table, 11 points behind fourth place Bologna. In the Champions League, they travel to Catalonia next month to face Barcelona in the second leg of their Round of 16 tie, which currently sits 1-1 on aggregate.

Page 14 of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Napoli will likely struggle to keep their star players in the summer should they fail to secure a spot in the Champions League or Europa League.

Whilst it’s expected that Victor Osimhen will be sold in the summer, regardless of the Champions League qualification, others like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia are likely to push for an exit should the club’s project start to collapse.
