Napoli have Billy Gilmour in their crosshairs, but their opening bid was quickly rejected by Brighton. Antonio Conte is particularly high on the player. However, the Seagulls don’t seem to be open to selling him for now, Mattia Moretto reports (via SOSFanta).

According to the BBC, Napoli tendered €9.5M for Gilmour, which wasn’t enough to convince Brighton. However, it was mostly a first approach to test the waters. The Azzurri will return with a higher offer and believe they could be successful. He’s regularly taking part in the pre-season preparation. The English team has flown to Japan for a pair of friendlies. They are closing in on Inter Miami’s Diego Gomez, who stars in the same position.
The Partenopei have so far been working on their defense and their attack and seemed set to confirm their previous midfield. According to Corriere dello Sport (via Tuttomercatoweb), Conte hasn’t been impressed by Jens-Lys Cajuste, who’s currently the top backup. He could leave this summer.
