Napoli forward Giacomo Raspadori has credited his stay at Sassuolo for his rapid development as he continues to make his mark with the Partenopei. The 23-year-old signed for Napoli on the advice of Luciano Spalletti in the summer of 2022, and despite a slow start to life in the south of Italy, he is showing signs of growth, already racking up 4 goals in 11 games this campaign, two fewer than what he managed in the entirety of the previous Scudetto-winning season.

Ahead of the game against Union Berlin, the EURO 2020 winner thanked opportunities the Neroverdi and the Azzurri for his development into one of Serie A’s most promising forwards.

“Having continuity in Sassuolo made me understand that I can be an important player in Serie A, and the national team gave me a lot of self-esteem. I am aware of my abilities and I want to improve myself even more.” (via SassuoloNews)

When quizzed if he prefers being a centre forward, Raspadori revealed that he does not care which position he plays, as long as the team benefits on the pitch with profitable results.

“The important thing is that the team’s results arrive. Whether I am in a position to best express myself at the center or in another role makes little difference. The important thing is the team.”

Most recently, Raspadori helped Napoli dispatch Salernitana 2-0 away in the Campania Derby, netting the opener with an impressive finish from inside the box – his third consecutive game finding the back of the net.
