Manchester City will face Newcastle United in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. The FA Cup holders booked their spot with a 6-2 win over Luton Town in the fifth round of the competition. Newcastle beat Blackburn Rovers on penalties to secure their place in the quarter-finals.

The game will take place on the weekend of Saturday 16 March at the Etihad. A confirmation of the time and date of the quarter-final clash is yet to be confirmed.

It will be the fourth meeting between the two clubs this season. Manchester City won the two meetings in the Premier League this season. Pep Guardiola’s side beat Newcastle 1-nil in the corresponding fixture earlier this season. They also beat Eddie Howe’s side 3-2 at St. James Park after a late Oscar Bobb winner sealed all three points for City. Newcastle did however eliminate Manchester City from the Carabao Cup with a 1-nil win at St. James Park in the third round of the competition.

The FA Cup holders booked their place in the quarter-finals with a 6-2 win over Luton Town. City’s win saw Erling Haaland score 5 with four of those goals being provided by Kevin De Bruyne. A late Mateo Kovacic strike round off a big win for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Manchester City are aiming to win back-to-back FA Cups this season. They famously beat their arch-rivals Manchester United in the final 2-1 last season. The famous win laid the foundation for City to claim the treble last season. It is a feat they are hoping to repeat this season.
