Newcastle United defender Dan Burn says Sheffield United sacking manager Paul Heckingbottom is understandable.

Heckingbottom is expected to be shown the door at Bramall Lane today.

Burn told BBC Sport: "From being around those environments before, at the bottom of the table, you've got to be picking up points against the teams around you.

"Against the teams at the top, those are just bonus points but the six-pointers against the other sides at the bottom, if you're not picking up those points, even this early in the season, I can understand to an extent why people might want to make changes.

"But I still think he's done a very good job with what he's been given."
