Newcastle United could use these last few days of the January transfer window to bolster their goalkeeping position. The Magpies’ current starting shot-stopper, Nick Pope, is out for four months with a shoulder injury.

Fichajes reports, citing sources, that the Premier League side is exploring the option of seeking a loan for Keylor Navas, the experienced Costa Rican goalkeeper from Paris Saint-Germain.

Navas would offer significant competition and enhance the depth of the goalkeeper position behind Martin Dubravka. While Navas is unlikely to join Newcastle as a first-choice starter, his experience and undisputed skills make him an ideal candidate to compete for the job with Dubravka.

Currently, the focal point revolves around PSG’s willingness to loan out Navas. The Costa Rican goalkeeper, whose contract with the Parisian club ends this season, might find the prospect of regular playtime for Newcastle intriguing in the months ahead.

The brevity of his remaining contract poses a potential complication, as PSG would need to terminate Navas’ contract in January for him to depart six months ahead of schedule. All possibilities are under consideration and require negotiation.
