Matteo Guendouzi has now definitively transferred to Lazio from Olympique Marseille after his conditional obligation to buy clause was triggered.

The French midfielder has started to grow into a fan favourite during his debut season in the Italian capital, having joined last summer from the Ligue 1 side on a loan deal with an €18 million total clause attached, linked to sporting results.

Guendouzi was the Man of the Match in Lazio’s 1-0 win over Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie and was also involved in a heated scuffle with Roma’s Paulo Dybala during the recent Derby della Capitale, two things that perfectly sum up the Frenchman.

As noted by TMW and Calciomercato.com amongst others, Lazio have now signed Guendouzi from Marseille after his conditional obligation to buy clause was triggered. It was linked to a 12th place finish or above, which was mathematically secured after the 1-0 win over Genoa on Friday.

This term, Guendouzi has scored three goals and provided four assists across 40 games across all competitions.
