Paris Saint-Germain: Lionel Messi tests positive for COVID-19

Seven-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi tested positive for COVID-19 along with three of his Paris Saint-Germain teammates, the club announced Sunday morning.

Messi, Juan Bernat, Sergio Rico and Nathan Bitumazala are all "in isolation and are subject to the appropriate health protocol," PSG said in a press release. PSG is scheduled to face Vannes in the Round of 32 of the French Cup on Monday. The tournament has been won by PSG in six out of the last seven years, including each of the last two.

Messi, 34, spent his entire senior career with Barcelona before leaving to join PSG in August. While he's scored just one goal in 11 appearances in Ligue play with PSG, he has five goals in five Champions League appearances.

Earlier this year, Messi won the Ballon d'Or extending his record number of wins. The only other player who has won the award more than three times is Cristiano Ronaldo, who has won it five times.
