Anticipation surrounded Paris Saint-Germain’s plans for the upcoming 2024-25 season, with many expecting Xavi Simons to be a key addition to the squad as the club aims to build a team for the post-Kylian Mbappé era. However, that might not be the case.

According to a recent report from RMC Sport, Simons’ future at PSG remains uncertain. The player apparently lacks the drive to remain in Paris, hinting at a potential departure this summer.

This news was a boost for clubs like FC Barcelona, who are one of the clubs reportedly interested in the 21-year-old. As a result, the latest information from journalist Roger Torelló reveals the Catalan club’s stance on their former youth product.

Torelló notes that Simons will do everything possible to sign for Barcelona on loan this summer, and he’ll inform PSG about his wish soon. The Dutchman is under contract until 2027, so it will be interesting to see how this new saga ends.

Simons has been catching attention at RB Leipzig, making a splash with 42 appearances across all competitions. His tally of nine goals and 15 assists speaks volumes, sparking interest from other top European clubs keen to see if they can tempt him away.
