Real Madrid remain on the hunt for the new long-term right-back, given that Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez are both 32 years of age. Over the last couple of years, they have been linked with Chelsea captain Reece James, who would certainly fit the bill to hold the position for many years to come, given that he’s only 24.

James made his return to action on Saturday after five months out with a hamstring injury, and provided an assist as Chelsea defeated Nottingham Forest 3-2. He showed his quality on that occasion, and Real Madrid could be aware of it.

According to Diario AS, Real Madrid have admired James for a long time. They won’t make a move this summer as a right-back isn’t high on their list of priorities, but if the Englishman can put his injury woes behind him over the next 12 months, Los Blancos may look to make a move in 2025.

There’s no doubt that James would be a fantastic signing for Real Madrid, and he could arguably be the best option for them at right-back. The big question is over his injury record, but if that improves, it would surely pique the interest of club bosses.
