Renato Sanches is in the Roma squad for tonight’s match against Cagliari, but reports continue to suggest he could join Besiktas.

The game kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico this evening at 19.45 GMT.

Coach Daniele De Rossi released the squad list, which includes Renato Sanches along with new signings Angelino – formerly of Galatasaray – and Tommaso Baldanzi.

According to Calciomercato.com, this could be an opportunity for the Portugal international to say goodbye to the Giallorossi supporters.

The transfer deadline in Turkey is on Friday February 9 and there is still plenty of time to work out a move to Besiktas.

Renato Sanches arrived on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in mid-August at a cost of €1m with an option to buy for a further €11m.

That option becomes an obligation if he plays at least 55 per cent of their games over the course of the season.

It is safe to say that is not happening, as he made just nine appearances for a total 228 minutes on the pitch, still scoring one goal.

Repeated injury problems and poor form have seen him pushed to the background, with the dismissal of Jose Mourinho and change to a 4-3-3 system under new coach Daniele De Rossi damaging his standing even more.

His last cameo in the Roma jersey was two months ago against Bologna, when he sustained yet another muscular injury.

Besiktas would need to negotiate a deal both with Paris Saint-Germain and Roma to take Renato Sanches, but the Giallorossi certainly would not stand in their way.

They could also save on his €3.5m per season salary.
