AC Milan are now finally closing in on a deal to sign Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek after talks between the clubs and the player began a number of weeks ago.

Loftus-Cheek is fully open to a move away from Chelsea and is keen to take on a new challenge in a new league with a club the side of AC Milan.

He will now be playing alongside his former team-mate Fikayo Tomori.

As reported by Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports, AC Milan could strike a deal with Chelsea for Ruben Loftus-Cheek as early as tonight, with the deal advancing rapidly right now.

Personal terms are agreed and all parties are now keen on making the deal happen, with Loftus-Cheek ready and open to the move.

The deal has been held up for a number of weeks due to AC Milan's decision to sack Paolo Maldini as their director. Maldini wanted Loftus-Cheek, but the club have retained interest since he has left.

Loftus-Cheek is not part of the plans this season under Chelsea and the player feels now is the right time to try a new challenge after a number of years fighting for a place at Chelsea.

Milan are also in contacts with Christian Pulisic, which means if a deal goes through there could be as many as three former Chelsea player in the AC Milan side next season.

A deal is felt to be very close, and could be done tonight if all goes well.
