Report: Barcelona to relegate Luis Suarez to stands

Less than a month after reports surfaced that Barcelona were prepared to terminate the contract for striker Luis Suarez, manager Ronald Koeman has reportedly informed the Uruguayan that he will have to sit in the stands if he doesn't find a new club before the summer transfer window closes on Oct. 5.

According to Sam Marsden and Moises Llorens of ESPN, the 33-year-old is deemed surplus to requirements and won't be featured by Barca even though he's set to earn approximately €25 million in the final season of his deal. Suarez has been linked with Italian giants Juventus and also Major League Soccer side Inter Miami.

Barcelona are willing to let Koeman have the final say on Suarez's future, but the 2013-14 Professional Footballers' Association and Football Association Writers Player of the Year could find himself watching the club play from the Camp Nou seats until he sorts his future.

While it's been made clear that superstar Lionel Messi isn't going anywhere during the transfer window, Suarez apparently isn't part of Barcelona's needed rebuild even as a backup option.
