Report: Tottenham have deterred interest in Harry Kane

Tottenham Hotspur may not shop forward Harry Kane this summer, after all.

The England international who scored the 200th club goal of his club career earlier this month is repeatedly the subject of potential exits from White Hart Lane, especially with Tottenham losing out on Champions League football and, instead, relegated to the Europa League for the 2020-21 campaign.

Early into lockdown, even the 27-year-old who has often spoken of his love for the club admitted to Sky Sports’ Jamie Redknapp that he won't remain at Tottenham if he feels the Lilywhites aren't matching his ambitions:

During a AMA on the Bleacher Report app, world football analyst Dean Jones answered a question about the two-time Premier League Golden Boot winner potentially finding a new home during the summer transfer window:

"Tottenham's message of 'we won't sell Kane' is so strong that it's deterred interest from clubs. They have no idea what to offer to Spurs. Kane is not the type of player to force a move, I don't see him leaving this season and there's no path for any club to make an offer at this point. Don't expect Real Madrid to come with £150 million this summer."

The coronavirus pandemic has likely lowered transfer prices throughout the most competitive leagues in the world, and Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy isn't known for selling stars at discount prices. It's hard to imagine a scenario where manager Jose Mourinho would sign off on the club selling his best striker at anything other than top dollar.
