Nemanja Matic received an alluring offer from Rennes at the beginning of August, and he hasn’t practiced with Roma since officially due to a minor injury. The proposal from the French club is richer and longer than his current contract. He’s leaning toward taking it, Corriere dello Sport informs.

The veteran would earn €3M for the next two years, plus an option, if he transferred to Ligue 1. Familiar reasons are in play too. The French side has yet to open talks to discuss the fee.

Roma want €7/8M to sell Matic to Rennes. They are irritated because the suitors contacted the player first. They didn’t expect him to ask out two weeks before the start of the season, especially because they already needed another midfielder.

If the Serb departed, the Giallorossi would try to orchestrate a double swoop from PSG. Other than Renato Sanches, whom they have been chasing after all summer long, they’d target Leandro Paredes. He’s searching for a new home after an underwhelming loan at Juventus.

Our Take on Roma, Matic, and Rennes

It’d be an unexpected blow as he was one of their top performers last season, especially in the second half of it, even though he could go every other match. They’d finally bring in a regista with the Argentine, but his performances left a lot to be desired in Turin.
