Roma might add another defender before the end of January and have been tipped to onboard Trevoh Chalobah or Caglar Soyuncu, but other teams are leading those races. The Turk, in particular, appears on the verge of switching sides.

According to Sky Sport Deutschland, Fulham are pursuing the Chelsea youngster. The two London clubs are discussing a loan with an option to buy. The Giallorossi were offered him in recent days. They didn’t follow up on the initial talks.

Roma were reportedly closer to Soyuncu than Chalobah before José Mourinho’s ousting, but he’s most likely headed to Fenerbahce. He has been spotted in Istanbul to negotiate. The deal should come together in short order, Fanatik relays (via Calciomercato).

The Giallorossi are on the verge of completing a sale, Gianluca Di Marzio reports. They’ll meet with Flamengo to haggle the departure of Matias Vina for roughly €10M, including bonuses, on Thursday. The prospective transfer will help their balance sheets but not with their Financial Fair Play-related restrictions because he wasn’t at the club. They technically have to cash in on players on their UEFA list to open some room.

Our Take on Roma, Chalobah, and Soyuncu

Despite his complaints, Mourinho was a factor in the transfer market. It’ll be interesting to see how it will evolve sans him. Things are unlikely to get better in that respect. Perhaps Daniele De Rossi will switch to a four-man defense, so a new option will no longer be an absolute priority.
