Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on Manchester United’s rumoured interest in Jeremie Frimpong.

The Netherlands ace is enjoying a scintillating campaign with Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen, who, remarkably, are yet to lose a game this season and hold a five-point advantage over second-placed Bayern Munich in the league.

Frimpong has been influential to his side’s form, notching eight goals and 10 assists in 27 appearances across all competitions – outstanding numbers for the attack-minded fullback. More recently, he netted a glorious injury-time strike to seal a 3-0 win over Bayern on home turf last Saturday.

United have been linked with the 23-year-old in the past and even more so since fellow Dutchman Erik ten Hag took the reins, though a deal has never come to pass.

This summer will see the Old Trafford outfit operate in the transfer market for the first time under INEOS’ control, and boyhood Red Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be keen on bolstering the squad in hopes of having them compete with the top dogs next season.

Romano on Frimpong speculation

Romano provided some clarity on United’s stance on Frimpong, explaining that club scouts “really appreciate” the player and that there is a “concrete” chance that he could depart Germany soon, as the in-form star “would love to try” and ply his trade in the Premier League.
