Mile Svilar has been impressive since supplanting Rui Patricio as the Roma starter. However, despite the club’s intention to rely on him going forward, a couple of problems stand in the way of such a proposition, Il Messaggero informed.

The goalie must be rewarded with a new contract. He has a long-term one, until 2027, but he makes just €700k, one of the lowest figures in the squad besides the youngsters. The talks have started, and his request probably won’t be exorbitant.

On the other hand, Roma necessitate recording some plusvalenze each summer, preferably before June 30th, to balance their books, and selling Svilar would be very profitable. They onboarded him on a free transfer a few years ago. Previous director Tiago Pinto suggested they needed to cash in €40M before the start of the window. The club hasn’t confirmed such a figure.

The talent is wanted by West Ham and Wolverhampton. He could be worth at least €20M, which would help them a lot. If he left, Alexander Nubel, who’s on loan from Bayern Munich to Stuttgart, Michele Di Gregorio, Wladimiro Falcone, and Pierluigi Gollini would be contenders to fill the opening. The Napoli shot-stopper, whose card belongs to Atalanta, could also come in as a deputy.

Our Take on Roma and Svilar

They don’t have many candidates for such a stratagem, but they have generally solved the issue by selling youngsters in previous years. It would help if they hired a new sporting director quickly.
