Sergio Aguero says players are 'scared' to return amid coronavirus pandemic

Count Manchester City star Sergio Aguero among Premier League soccer players who aren't embracing a rush back to stadiums amid the coronavirus pandemic.

On Wednesday, ESPN's Alex Shaw reported "a growing number of Premier League players" were uncomfortable with playing as the virus outbreak remained largely uncontrolled throughout England. Aguero left no doubt he's among them while speaking with "El Chiringuito" (via Sam France of Goal.com):

“The majority of players are scared because they have family; they have children, they have babies, parents. When we go back, I imagine that we will be very tense, we will be very careful, and the moment someone feels ill, you will think: ‘What's gone on there?' I hope there is a vaccine so all this ends. It does scare me, but I have just been here with my girlfriend. I haven't had contact with other people.”

Unlike some international stars who returned to their home countries once the coronavirus halted seasons in March, the 31-year-old Argentinian remained in Manchester.

As Dan Roan of BBC Sports updated, Premier League clubs are still planning to hold a video meeting on Friday regarding the completion of the 2019-20 season. Teams have nine or 10 matchdays remaining on their domestic schedules. Liverpool is the uncrowned champion of England with a 25-point advantage over Manchester City atop the table. On Wednesday, CNN International reported Juventus striker Paulo Dybala has tested positive for coronavirus four times across six weeks:
