Al-Ahli forward Roberto Firmino has apparently opted not to transfer to Sheffield United in the January transfer window, despite reports from Football Insider.

After leaving Liverpool when his contract ended, Firmino joined the lucrative Saudi Pro League earlier in the summer, capping off a prosperous eight-year stint with the English club. Although he marked the beginning of the season with a hat-trick against Al Hazem, Firmino has been unable to score in his subsequent 16 league appearances in the Middle East.

Portions of the Al-Ahli fanbase have expressed discontent with the performances of the 55-time Brazil international, particularly as their team trails league leaders Al-Hilal by 13 points.

Reports from Football Insider indicate that Firmino is aware of Premier League interest, but the forward seems inclined against making a return to England.

The report suggests that Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United have been keeping a close eye on the 32-year-old’s situation in recent months, with the Blades contemplating an ambitious move. Nevertheless, it appears Firmino is not inclined towards a transfer to Bramall Lane, especially given the prospect of being thrust into the midst of a relegation battle.

There is speculation that Firmino is open to a loan move from Al-Ahli in the January transfer window, with the Brazilian eager for a change. Al Ettifaq, led by Firmino’s former teammate Steven Gerrard, has emerged as a potential destination for the striker.
