Leonardo Spinazzola is reportedly on the verge of joining Napoli on a free transfer.

According to Sky Sport Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport, Spinazzola is ready to join Napoli on a free transfer after the end of his contract with Roma.

The two parties have met again in recent hours, and an agreement between the club and the player’s agent, Davide Lippi, is close.

Spinazzola’s representative is pushing for a two-year deal or a one-year contract with an option for a further campaign.

On the other hand, Napoli want to find a formula that would protect the club if Spinazzola suffers a long-term injury.

Spinazzola, 31, had torn his Achilles tendon in 2021 during Italy’s EURO 2020 campaign but got regular playing time at Roma last season, making 36 appearances across all competitions with over 2,000 minutes on the pitch.

The two parties are, therefore, close to reaching an agreement so Antonio Conte can finally work with the Italian full-back who was already on the verge of joining his Inter side in January 2020 in a swap deal with Matteo Politano.

According to Repubblica, Spinazzola will undergo his medical with Napoli next week before starting the pre-season with his new club.
