In recent weeks, Barcelona have been heavily linked with a move for Dani Olmo – something that they are very familiar with, given that he came through La Masia, before leaving for Dinamo Zagreb in 2015.

Olmo has been in fine form for RB Leipzig over the last couple of seasons, and he is now prepared to make the next step in his career, and that could be to go back to where it all started. The 26-year-old is one of two leading targets that Barcelona have to reinforce their forward line, the other being Nico Williams.

Barcelona’s interest in Olmo is being driven by sporting director Deco, whom MD report sees himself in the Spanish international, particularly in regards to their respective playstyles. Olmo is considered to be hungry on the football pitch, have a strong fighting spirit, and he has an eye for goal.

Deco believes that he resonates in Olmo because they are/were both technically gifted. It remains to be seen whether Barcelona will make a move during the summer, although for now, it seems like Williams is the preferred target – it’s not ruled out that both end up arriving, although significant sales would need to happen first.
