Thierry Henry was watching Inter Milan’s win over Porto last night in the Champions League for CBS, a game won by Chelsea loanee Romelu Lukaku.

Lukaku struggled badly after returning to Chelsea last season, and Henry said that when the two had worked together with the Begium national team, he had warned the striker not to move to Chelsea because the style of play Thomas Tuchel employed wouldn’t suit him.

Thierry is a great pundit, and we can forgive him this one smug story. We’re not sure we agree with him though – there weren’t many people forseeing the Lukaku drop off under Tuchel.

Tuchel had managed similar strikers successfully before, and the forward looked good when the full backs were in the team and he wasn’t injured, before the whole thing fell apart. the reasons were certainly partly a tactical incompatibility, but there was a lot more to it than just that.
