Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with a move for the OGC Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo in recent weeks.

However, the general feeling is that the French club will not sanction his departure this month and any move might have to wait until the summer transfer window.

According to RMC Sport, Manchester United and Chelsea are keen on signing the defender. The report further states that Tottenham Hotspur made him their priority target earlier this month and they are ‘likely to return’ for him at the end of the season. The 24-year-old central defender is ‘highly appreciated’ within the north London club.

The former Barcelona defender has established himself as one of the most reliable performers in Ligue 1 and it is no surprise that the top clubs are keen on securing his services. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can fend off the competition from clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea to sign the player.

The north London club are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements and they should look to sign a couple of quality central defenders. They are likely to sign someone before the January window closes and Todibo could complete their defensive unit in the summer.

The Frenchman will look to compete at the highest level and a move to Tottenham will certainly be an attractive proposition for him. He will want to showcase his qualities in the Premier League and help them compete for trophies. It would be the ideal step up in his career right now.
