Tottenham's Jan Vertonghen: 'It's everyone vs racists'

During a Monday training session, players from English Premier League side Liverpool kneeled to honor George Floyd, an African-American man who died while in Minneapolis police custody on May 25.

"Unity is strength," captain Jordan Henderson and defender Virgil van Dijk wrote.

Earlier in the day, Manchester United star Marcus Rashford tweeted a statement.

"I know you guys haven’t heard from me in a few days. I’ve been trying to process what is going on in the world. At a time I’ve been asking people to come together, work together and be united, we appear to be more divided than ever. People are hurting and people need answers.""Black lives matter."Black culture matters. "Black communities matter. "We matter."

Tottenham Hotspur centerback Jan Vertonghen shared his feelings on Instagram.

Over the weekend, Schalke and United States Men's National Team midfielder Weston McKennie, Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram and Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho all offered tributes to Floyd during Bundesliga matches.
