Jadon Sancho scores, rips off shirt to reveal message in honor of George Floyd

The death of George Floyd has sparked outrage across the United States, but it's also made an impact on many Bundesliga stars. Following in the footsteps of fellow Bundesliga stars Weston McKennie and Marcus Thuram, Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho scored and then proceeded to rip off his shirt to reveal a message in honor of George Floyd that read "Justice for George Floyd."

Schalke's McKennie was the first Bundesliga star to take a stand on the issue, revealing a "Justice for George" armband during Saturday's match against Werder Bremen. Borussia Monchengladbach star Thuram also scored and proceeded to also take a knee to honor the life and memory of Floyd while also showing respect for the protests against police brutality and racism.

These actions come almost a week after the death of Floyd, 46, who died Monday after being violently seized by a Minneapolis police officer.

The officer, Derek Chauvin, put immense pressure on Floyd's neck with his knee as he laid on the ground fighting for his life. A witness's video surfaced showing Floyd begging for his life and even telling the officer he couldn't breathe.

He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Chauvin was arrested Friday and charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter as a result of the incident.
