Milan are about to be whole defensively for the first time in months, as Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu have resumed training fully. Stefano Pioli ruled them out for Thursday’s game versus Rennes but left the door open for their returns versus Atalanta (via SportMediaset).
“Kalulu and Tomori hadn’t trained with us for a long time. It’ll be important to recover them. We’re happy to have them back. We’ll see for Sunday. I need to manage a group that will play 5 fixtures in 15 days. I have to make choices for each of them. The ones versus Monza were dictated by the data we collected about the conditions of the players. They are all fine and ready to feature. We had an extra day to rest.”
The Englishman went down on December 12th against Salernitana and was diagnosed with a myotendinous lesion of the right biceps femoris. Instead, the youngster last starred in late October and needed surgery to repair the same tendon as his teammate in his left thigh.

The Rossoneri were ravaged by injuries early on, but at least they appear to have found a solution to the crisis, and everybody respected their timetable, which is no small thing. It’s good news especially for the French talent, which looked poised for a longer absence. Their lack of January additions is more justified now, but hopefully, they’ll be more cautious with them than with Malick Thiaw.
