Joshua Zirkzee has been on AC Milan’s radar for several months and with a significant No.9 investment expected in the summer, he’s one of the key targets. However, the Rossoneri will face the competition from league rivals Juventus.

Zirkzee has been one of the revelations in Serie A this season, just like the entire Bologna team, with 12 goals and 7 assists. He’s perhaps not a bomber, i.e. a prolific goalscorer, but he’s a very important player tactically as he often drops down.

According to today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Juventus are indeed very interested but Milan have already had concrete talks with Zirkzee’s entourage. They are very keen on the Dutchman and will most certainly make a move this summer.

The Rossoneri believe that they can beat the Bianconeri for two reasons: the Zlatan Ibrahimovic factor and the inclusion of Alexis Saelemaekers. The latter is currently on loan at Bologna and they intend to redeem him, so financially speaking it will soften Zirkzee’s high price tag.

The financial ‘boost’ is something that Juventus don’t have for the time being, so Milan are very optimistic in their pursuit. However, also depending on the next manager, a lot could change between now and the end of the season.
