Watch: Lionel Messi saves Inter Miami with late equalizer vs. LA Galaxy

With Inter Miami only seconds away from suffering its first loss of the 2024 MLS season, megastar Lionel Messi came to the rescue.

Trailing five-time champion, the Los Angeles Galaxy, 1-0 in stoppage time, Messi rocketed home the equalizer off a great feed in front from Jordi Alba to help the Herons earn a draw.

Messi's heroics come only days after he set up both goals in a 2-0 Inter Miami victory over Real Salt Lake in the MLS season opener on Feb. 21.

Meanwhile, Sunday's tally gave him 12 career goals with the club, already tying him for third all-time with Josef Martinez and Robert Taylor.

After coming away with only one victory during the preseason, Inter Miami finds itself at the top of the MLS standings with four points (1-1-0) at the end of Week 1.

Messi and company will return to action on March 2, when they host Orlando City at home.
