David Datro Fofana has been recalled from his loan at Union Berlin, and the rumours now are that he’s going to be sent to Burnley for the second half of the season.

After wasting 6 months in the Bundesliga, it’s vital that this move works out, a year on from his £11m transfer from Molde (ESPN).

It looks like a risky move – Burnley are battling against relegation and are not going to worry about developing players for other teams. They will pick whatever eleven gives them the best chance of winning each game. So either Fofana hits the ground running, or he risks more time on the bench.

They’ve scored just 20 goals this season, which shows why they need an improvement – but also indicates he’s not going to get loads of chances.

The good news is that they don’t have any outstanding strikers, and he could force his way in. If he does, it will be valuable Premier League experience gained. So maybe it’s a risk worth taking…
