Manchester City’s forgotten goalkeeper Zack Steffen has joined MLS side Colorado Rapids. His move brings to an end his time with the European champions. The United States international was used primarily as a back up to City’s number one keeper Ederson. He spent last season out on loan at Championship club Middlesbrough and has missed the first half of this season with a knee injury.

Tom Bogert has reported for the Athletic that Zack Steffen has signed a three year deal with Colorado Rapids. He adds that there is an option of a fourth year included in the keepers contract.

It was also reported by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano that Zack Steffen has already completed his medical with the MLS club. Furthermore, Romano adds that the deal between the two clubs for the American goalkeeper is complete.

With Steffen set to complete his move back to the MLS it will end his time with the world champions. He only made 21 appearances for Manchester City during his spell with the club. Upon joining the treble winners in the summer of 2019/20 from Columbus Crew he was immediately sent on loan to German club Fortuna Dusseldorf. He then spent the next two seasons at the European champions as an understudy to Ederson.

With Stefan Ortega joining the club in the summer of 2022 the American keeper was loaned to Middlesbrough. With Ederson and Stefan Ortega in his way a move back to the MLS beckons for the keeper.
