After the 2024 Australian Open, many players have taken the time to reflect on themselves and change their teams accordingly. One of those players was the young Holger Rune, who made a few major changes in his team.

The Dane dropped Severin Luthi right after the Australian Open before parting ways with the legendary Boris Becker. This move was highly unexpected, but Rune did not stop with his changes. Many names popped up in search of a new coach, but the answer he was looking for had been in front of him the whole time.

Recently, Rune announced that he has signed up his ex-coach, Patrick Mourtaoglou, and is looking forward to getting back to winning ways with the respected coach. There were many reactions from tennis insiders and fans. Even Boris Becker, his former coach, wished Rune well for his new hiring.

I heard the good news!  Holger Rune is back with   Patrick Mouratoglou! Wishing you guys lots of success in the upcoming tournaments and for the rest of the season!

Holger Rune reunites with ex-coach Patrick Mouratoglou days after splitting with Boris Becker

Days after splitting with the 6-time Grand Slam title champion Boris Becker, Rune reunited with his ex-coach Patrick Mouratoglou, with whom he has had much success.

Together, they have achieved many great wins, including a maiden ATP Masters title at 19. This tournament put Rune on the map, as he became the first player since 1990 to earn five Top-10 wins at an event other than the Nitto ATP Finals.

The two split up in the first half of the year before Rune tried to change tactics and work with Becker. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out, and the Dane went right back to his ex-coach.

I am excited to resume working with Patrick. With him, I have achieved some of the greatest triumphs of my career so far, and I can’t wait for us to chase the next major titles together. Said Rune  in a statement as per Tennis Majors

Despite all the allegations against Mouratoglou and his academy, Rune has decided to work with him. For the uninitiated, over the past couple of weeks, many allegations have been made about his academy for giving the players doping substance to intake. However, at the time of writing, there have been no formal investigations made, and hence no update either.

The pair will resume their partnership in Acapulco after Rune suffered another early exit in a tournament. He lost in the second round of Rotterdam, adding to the list of failed tournament runs in 2024.
