Amidst a struggling phase of her career, young British sensation Emma Raducanu has something to smile about. She received praise from Tim Henman on Sky Sports, which recently launched its designated channel only for tennis.
The former tennis player had highlighted some key players to watch out for throughout the year and one player that caught his eye was the 2021 US Open winner, Emma Raducanu. The Britain pride made history by becoming the first British qualifier to win the US Open and has since been a player to watch out for. Unfortunately, she had suffered a major injury that restricted her movement and resulted in a drop in ranking and form.
Returning at the start of 2024, Raducanu won a few promising matches but failed to leave a strong impression in the tournaments she played so far. However, Henman believes otherwise.
Form is temporary but class is permanent. She is such a good player. You could see in the first two tournaments this year, her level was very, very impressive. That’s having not played for nine months. If she can build up some matches, good things will follow. Henman on Sky Sports
Furthermore, he also stated that she is too good for wins not to come and will improve over time. After over 9 months off the court, Raducanu has returned with a new motive to improve her ranking and get one deep run in the year.

Stating that Raducanu is still inexperienced, Henman believes that if she can build on her physical resilience and experience, then the wins would come easily.
She’s still massively inexperienced. If you do a number count of the matches she has played on the main tour, it is still so little. She’s got to build up physical resilience and the experience of being on tour. Then she will be able to do herself justice.
Raducanu is more fit than before but hasn’t outdone other players with her tennis. She hasn’t made it past the second round of the tournaments thus far and is about to play another match at the Qatar Open.
Moreover, Henman also stated that the win is around the corner for another British star Andy Murray, who hasn’t been at his best recently. Since October, Murray has not gotten an ATP tour-level win and is struggling to gain some momentum. Five tournaments later the former World No.1 is winless. With more tournaments to follow, all eyes will be on the Brits, who are eager to win some matches and make an impression on the tour.
