Novak Djokovic has made a shocking change to his coaching staff. Instead of parting ways with more coaches, the Serbian hired a new fitness coach for a change. However, it was his longtime coach, Gebhard Gritsch

Ahead of the Rome Masters, Djokovic revealed a few important things in a recent interview on the Tennis Channel. After speaking about his health heading into the tournament, the Serbian revealed to have reunited with his coach.

Djokovic was in search of a new fitness coach after having parted ways with Marco Panichi. Luckily for the Serbian, he got back with Gritsch, who was with the Serbian from 2009 to 2017. Even after that, the two had worked occasionally till 2019. Due to their history, it did not take them long to click, which was exactly what Djokovic was looking for.

It didn't take much time to adapt to his program and approach. We know each other really well. That's why I feel like we're synchronized from the very beginning in terms of what we want to do, how we want to approach the program of training on and off the court. said Novak Djokovic via Tennis Channel

Now, the Serbian enters the Rome Open as World No.1 and looks very prepared to give it his all in Italy. It is the last Master 1000 tournament in clay, and the Serbian aims to get his first title of the season here.

Novak Djokovic revealed to be very prepared for the Italian Open after a slow start to 2024

World No.1 Novak Djokovic has had a rather forgetful start to 2024. Having started the year with a lot of expectations, the Serbian lost all momentum at the Australian Open, where he lost to Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals.

However, his misery did not end there as the Serbian fell early in two other tournaments, forcing him to take a break and prepare thoroughly for the next

I'm pleased with the way the last 10 days, 14 days went in terms of training, in terms of preparation and looking ahead to this tournament. Novak Djokovic added

Previously Djokovic had blamed his lack of practice for his losses at the Australian Open, and now, the Serbian finds himself with more time than usual to be completely prepared ahead of the Rome Open. The Serbian is the No.1 seed in Italy and will be a huge favorite to win, especially with Carlos Alcaraz and Sinner out of the tournament.
