Novak Djokovic upset by 19-year-old phenom Carlos Alcaraz at Madrid Open

Rising star Carlos Alcaraz continued his quick ascension to the top of the tennis world Saturday with a hard fought win over No. 1 ranked Novak Djokovic at the Madrid Open.

Alcaraz, who turned 19 on Thursday, beat Djokovic 6-7, 7-5, 7-6 in a grueling semifinal match that took more than three hours.

On Friday, Alcaraz beat five-time Madrid Open champion Rafael Nadal in three sets.

"It's a spectacular feeling right now," Alcaraz said, via ESPN. "I'm very excited to be able to play these kind of matches, to be able to beat Rafa yesterday, to be able to beat the No. 1 today."

In April, Alcaraz cracked the top 10 of the ATP rankings, becoming the youngest player to do so since Nadal in 2005. Alcaraz is currently ranked ninth in the world, but is set to climb higher after beating the fourth and first ranked players in back-to-back days.

The men's singles final of the Madrid Open is set for Sunday when Alcaraz will face reigning tournament champion Alexander Zverev.
