Greece vs Germany is the last United Cup quarterfinal with Australia awaiting the winner in the final four. This one’s full of high-profile singles matchups and who knows, maybe it will also come down to the wire (otherwise known as mixed doubles). Who do you think will prevail?

Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Alexander Zverev
Head-to-head: Tsitsipas 9-4
It’s a pretty dominant head-to-head lead for Stefanos Tsitsipas and a pretty big stain on Alexander Zverev’s record to be trailing like this against one of the biggest rivals of his generation. The German had a stronger finish to his 2023 campaign but when they faced each other in Paris, it was Tsitsipas who prevailed. Maybe he’d be the favorite here again but apparently there’s a health concern for the Greek, who pulled out of the tie against Chile with a back injury. He played one non-competitive match since and hasn’t had the opportunity to pick up as much rhythm as Zverev has so far. That tends to be crucial early in the season.
Prediction: Zverev in 3
Maria Sakkari vs Angelique Kerber
Head-to-head: Kerber 3-1
Angelique Kerber has posted two losses so far, which is fine given she’s returning to the sport after a long while. She was fairly competitive against both Jasmine Paolini and Caroline Garcia, only really getting demolished in the last two sets by the Frenchwoman. She should be getting better with every match from here, but Maria Sakkari is such a strong player when part of the team and should be able to eventually outplay her if it goes physical as well.

Maria Sakkari/Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Laura Siegemund/Maximilian Marterer
Head-to-head: First meeting
It’s important to note that if this mixed doubles tie ends up being important, Germany is highly likely to change their nomination to Angelique Kerber/Alexander Zverev, who played twice in the group stage with a 1-1 record. On the other hand, Greece probably won’t play Maria Sakkari/Stefanos Tsitsipas if they’ve already won the tie. If the two highest-ranked Greek players do compete though, they’ll be the favorites to clinch the win with strong synergy and the experience they have from the United Cup, Hopman Cup, and Olympics.
Prediction: Sakkari/Tsitsipas in 2 (in 3 if it’s against Kerber/Zverev)
