Andre de Grasse first Canadian to win gold in men's 200 meters since 1928
Andre de Grasse of Canada won the Olympic gold medal in the men's 200 meters, beating out three American runners to stand at the top of the podium. He is the first Canadian to take home gold in the 200 meters in nearly a century.
2019 world champion Noah Lyles took bronze with a time of 19.74 seconds while Kenneth Bednarek won silver with a time of 19.68 seconds. Seventeen-year-old Erriyon Knighton, the U.S. team's youngest member, just barely missed the podium after posting a 19.93.
De Grasse took home silver in the event at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, coming in second to Usain Bolt. He also took home the bronze a couple nights ago in the men's 100 meters, which he also did in 2016.
