New Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is set to take the WNBA by storm. But that doesn’t mean she’s spared from some creepy comments from grown men out there.

Clark had a seemingly bizarre interaction with a reporter Wednesday during her introductory press conference that sent shivers down some fans’ spines.

Reporter Gets Creepy With Caitlin Clark At Her Introductory Press Conference

Indianapolis Star reporter Gregg Doyel made waves on Wednesday due to his interaction with Clark. Once Doyel was given the go signal to ask a question, he started it off by making a hand-heart gesture toward Clark.

The former Iowa star had often made the gesture toward her family and some fans throughout her college playing career. Clark, seemingly confused by Doyel’s gesture, respectfully asked him if he “liked that.” Doyel responded as if he were hitting on an unsuspecting woman at a bar.

Caitlin Clark: “You like that?”

Reporter: “I like that you’re here.”

Caitlin: “Yeah, I do that at my family after every game.”

Reporter: “Start doing it to me and we’ll get along just fine.”

Reporter Gregg Doyel Apologizes For Weird Caitlin Clark Interaction

Doyel was lambasted online for his remark to Clark. The veteran reporter quickly apologized on his personal X account, calling his comment “clumsy and awkward” and his behavior genuinely “oafish.”

“Today in my uniquely oafish way, while welcoming [Caitlin Clark] to Indy, I formed my hands into her signature . My comment afterward was clumsy and awkward. I sincerely apologize. Please know my heart (literally and figuratively) was well-intentioned. I will do better,” wrote Doyel.

Clark has evoked all kinds of reactions from fans, reporters, and fellow hoopers for her amazing performances on the court. But she deserves ever modicum of respect from these same people off of it.
