Cherelle and Brittney Griner announced on Friday, July 19th, that they welcomed their precious bundle of joy into their family earlier this month. The parents have been tight-lipped on baby number three, but we will share everything there is to know about the new addition to the Griner family. Welcome to parenthood, Cherelle and Brittney!

2 Becomes 3

Cherelle Griner gave birth to the couple’s son on July 8th, weighing 7 pounds, 8 ounces. They were able to keep the family’s new addition private for nearly two weeks, which is impressive. All seems to be well with the baby and mama post-delivery.

In an interview with CBS Sports, Brittney Griner gushed about her role as ‘pops’, saying, “That’s my man. He is amazing. They said as soon as you see them, everything that you thought mattered just goes out the window. That’s literally what happened.”

We could not be more elated for the parents and their baby boy. He is so loved and is the apple of his pops eye already. Hopefully, the mamas will reveal details like his name in the future. We will be patient, though. Right now, it’s all about the Griner’s enjoying their baby. Possibly even catching a little shut eye!

Brittney Griner On The Road?

Now, the WNBA star had to pull herself away from her son long enough to compete in the US Olympics with her fellow American basketball players. It was hard for her to leave her son, but she expressed that she feels she needs to represent the country that fought for her to come back

Brittney Griner is, of course, referring to the United States fighting to get her back into the country after she was detained for 10 months in Russia in 2022 for drug charges. She was allowed to return after there was a prisoner exchange between the two countries. This is the first time that Griner is leaving America since 2022, which has to be a slightly unsettling experience. Thankfully, she has Cherelle and baby Griner supporting her at home. What a wonderful environment to come back to post-Olympics

The Griner’s Pregnancy Journey

The Griner wives first announced they were expecting a baby in April of 2024. The couple shared the ultrasound in their Instagram announcement, and Cherelle captioned the post, “Can’t believe we’re less than three months away from meeting our favorite human being.” Of course, Cherelle is absolutely radiant in every photo she posts with her baby bump.

Thankfully, Brittney Griner has a little experience in this arena. Since Griner is already the mother of twin girls with her ex-wife, Glory Johnson. Johnson and Griner were only married for one year and split one day after their new additions were announced. Talk about awkward timing. The twins are currently living in Tennessee with Johnson. The ex-wives are amenable and have worked together to take care of the needs of their daughters. Undoubtedly, Brittney Griner is richly blessed with her brood of three.
