The WNBA slate was packed with five games on Saturday. Here are three stars from a loaded day of action.
Napheesa Collier | 15 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, two steals, two blocks
The Lynx star is off to a historic start, becoming the first player in league history with 95 points, 40 assists, 13 steals and eight blocks over any four-game span.
In Saturday's 84-67 win over the Liberty, Collier had 15 points and 12 rebounds, already her third double-double this season. The 2023 first-team All-WNBA performer was also brilliant on the defensive end, frustrating Liberty forward Breanna Stewart on the perimeter and forcing a miss during this sequence:
Minnesota (3-1) led by as many as 21 points on Saturday and is establishing itself early as one of the league's best teams.
DeWanna Bonner | 19 points, eight rebounds
The ageless Sun guard continues to shine bright in her 15th WNBA season. In the Connecticut Sun's 86-82 road win in Chicago against the Sky, Bonner led the team in points while shooting 3-of-9 from beyond the arc, including a buzzer-beater at the end of the third to put the Sun up by two, 69-67.
Her pull-up jumper from the free-throw line with 4:13 left gave Connecticut a four-point lead and proved to be the deciding bucket as the Sun improved to 5-0.
Bonner's performance was even more important for the Sun following Alyssa Thomas' ejection after receiving a flagrant two on a hard foul against Sky rookie forward Angel Reese.
Arike Ogunbowale | 40 points, seven rebounds, seven made three-pointers
Ogunbowale recorded the league's first 40-point game of 2024 in the Dallas Wings' 107-92 win over the Phoenix Mercury. The three-time All-Star shot 11-of-24 from the field (including 7-of-12 from deep) as she scored at least 35 points for the second time this season and the ninth team in her six-year pro career. According to Across The Timeline, that's the third-most in WNBA history, trailing only Diana Taurasi (14) and Stewart (10).
Ogunbowale added four assists and four steals in the win, making her the first player to achieve that stat line in a single game.
